A microchip is a small capsule about the size of a grain of rice that is injected under your pet’s skin. The overall process is quick and easy to do, and can be performed in an awake animal without any problems. The microchip has a number that be read by a microchip scanner. If your pet was to every get lost or stolen, their microchip will help reunite them with you.

Microchipping became compulsory in November 2015.

At Carnarvon Vet Hospital, we use miniature microchips which makes the insertion process as least painful as possible. Most pets barely notice a thing. Besides, we bribe them with heaps of treats at the same time to distract them!
